Privacy Policy
FloraTrac · Last updated: April 2026
FloraTrac is built by Jack Dixon ("I", "me", or "my"). This Privacy Policy explains what information FloraTrac collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. By using FloraTrac, you agree to this policy.
1. Information I Collect
FloraTrac collects only what is necessary to provide its features:
- Location data. With your permission, FloraTrac uses your device's GPS to detect your city and USDA Hardiness Zone. This is stored locally on your device only and is not transmitted to any server beyond the one-time zone lookup.
- Plant data you enter. Plant names, photos, health scores, care notes, and schedules are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- AI queries. When you use features like plant identification, AI care lookup, or sick plant diagnosis, the text of your query is sent to a Cloudflare Worker, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. No personally identifying information is included in these requests.
- Photos. Photos you add to plants are stored only on your device. If you use the camera identification feature, the image is sent to the Cloudflare Worker for AI analysis and is not retained after the response is returned.
- Purchase information. If you subscribe to FloraTrac Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. I do not receive or store your payment details.
2. Information I Do Not Collect
- I do not create user accounts or collect your name or email address.
- I do not use advertising SDKs or sell your data to third parties.
- I do not track you across other apps or websites.
- I do not use analytics services that collect behavioral data.
3. How Your Information Is Used
Information collected by FloraTrac is used solely to:
- Provide zone-specific plant care advice personalized to your location.
- Generate AI-powered plant descriptions, care plans, and diagnoses.
- Store your plant collection and care schedule on your device.
- Send local notifications for watering, fertilizing, and care reminders (only if you enable them).
4. Data Storage and Security
Your plant data, photos, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is protected by your device's built-in security and is included in your iCloud backup if you have that enabled.
AI queries are transmitted over HTTPS to a Cloudflare Worker. Cloudflare may log request metadata in accordance with their own privacy policy. I do not log or store the content of AI queries beyond what is needed to return a response.
5. Children's Privacy
FloraTrac is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.
6. Third-Party Services
7. Your Rights
Since your data is stored on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting the FloraTrac app. This removes all locally stored plant data, photos, and settings.
If you have questions about data related to AI queries, you may contact me at the address below.
8. Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When I do, I will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of FloraTrac after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
